TrueCrypt 7.0a ist draussen

Hmm über dieses Tool habe ich schon sehr viel gehört.

Hätte da ein Paar Fragen zu (Oje geht dat schon wieder los..)

1. Kann ich mit TC meine System HDD auch Verschlüsseln und wenn ja wie läuft dass, muss ich jedesmal beim Booten gleich nach dem Bios ein PW eingeben?

2. Kann ich jetzt noch meine OS HDD verschlüsseln wo schon alles Instaliert ist oder geht dat nur bevor man eine neu Instalation macht?

3. Ich habe zwei Festpallten SATA2 möchte diese Verschlüsseln jeder ein anderes PW?

4. Kostet mich diese Verschlüsselung Performence? Werden Spiele, Programme oder Zugriffe auf die HDDs verlangsamt.

5. Gibt es was zu Beachten bevor ich lustig los Verschlüssele?!

ja etwas. Wenn du 2+ CPU Kerne hast merkst du aber kaum Unterschiede...

Datensicherung + gutes Passwort ausdenken (mind. 10 Zeichen) und nicht aufschreiben.

Bezüglich der Performance... durch die Verschlüsselung wird doch mehr Information auf der Festplatte/RAM gespeichert oder irre ich mich da? Also ich mein dass so, was vorher 500kb groß war, wird durch die Verschlüsselung nun 600kb groß (als Beispiel).

Dann wäre nicht nur die CPU ein möglicher Flaschenhals sondern auch die Festplatte (und evtl. der RAM).

Kenne mich aber nicht wirklich mit Verschlüsselungen und TrueCrypt aus... hab nur nen paar Basics was aber Intern genau vor sich geht - hab ich kein blassen Schimmer davon.

Wenn du AES nimmst wirst du keinen Performance Unterschied merken können. Habe schon seit einigen Jahren alles verschlüsselt (C2D E8400, 4GB RAM) und ich kann trotzdem noch alle aktuellen Spiele zocken. Der AES Code ist bei Truecrypt so gut implementiert, das es kaum was aus macht. (Bald wird es sogar noch besser, die neuen Intel CPUs haben einen AES Befehlssatz implementiert, dadurch wird der Verlust noch geringer^^)

AMD only Aber danke für den Tip ich muss jetzt erstamal ein Paket DVDRWs kofen und Acronis anwerfen dann werde ick Verschlüsseln.

New features:

• Hardware-accelerated AES (for more information, see the chapter Hardware Acceleration).
  Note: If you want to disable hardware acceleration, select Settings > Performance and disable the option 'Accelerate AES encryption/decryption by using the AES instructions of the processor'.
  
• A volume can now be configured to be automatically mounted whenever its host device gets connected to the computer (provided that the correct password and/or keyfiles are supplied). (Windows)
  
  Note: For example, if you have a TrueCrypt container on a USB flash drive and you want to configure TrueCrypt to mount it automatically whenever you insert the USB flash drive into the USB port, follow these steps: 1. Mount the volume. 2. Right-click the mounted volume in the drive list in the main TrueCrypt window and select 'Add to Favorites'. 3. The Favorites Organizer window should appear. In it, enable the option 'Mount selected volume when its host device gets connected' and click OK.
  
  Also note that TrueCrypt will not prompt you for a password if you have enabled caching of the pre-boot authentication password (Settings > 'System Encryption') and the volume uses the same password as the system partition/drive. The same applies to cached non-system volume passwords.
  
• Partition/device-hosted volumes can now be created on drives that use a sector size of 4096, 2048, or 1024 bytes (Windows, Linux). Note: Previously only file-hosted volumes were supported on such drives.

  Note: As Windows XP and Windows 2003 do not provide any API for encryption of hibernation files, TrueCrypt has to modify undocumented components of Windows XP/2003 in order to allow users to encrypt hibernation files. Therefore, TrueCrypt cannot guarantee that Windows XP/2003 hibernation files will always be encrypted. Therefore, if you use Windows XP/2003 and want the hibernation file to be safely encrypted, we strongly recommend that you upgrade to Windows Vista or later and to TrueCrypt 7.0 or later.
